The Self Defense Company is expanding globally, and now is the time to get in on the action. And as the Marine’s used to say, “We Are Looking for a Few Good Men/Women”
The Biggest Misconception About Teaching Self-Defense
Somewhere, somehow someone came up with this idea that you need to have trained for years, you need to have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in the Dojo mastering the hundreds of moves and counter moves in order to teach self-defense, or that you have to have a Black Belt to be an instructor. Well all of that is simply not true, and in this post I will expose the truth about teaching self-defense.
There is a BIG Difference Between Martial Arts and the Self Defense Training System
The Self Defense Training System is based on the close combat techniques that have been taught to police, military, and special operatives worldwide and they have depended on these same techniques to keep themselves alive in the world that they live in (and now you can learn these same basic defense techniques as well).
Martial Arts as I stated earlier on requiring hundreds if not thousands of hours training to perfect your skills to a level of proficiency that would allow you to teach them to others. I, of course, having studied conventional martial arts in my youth have all the respect for the Masters that teach these skills, but also realize that their teachings fall short of true self-defense. Reason being is those conventional martial arts train you to react to the attack and counter the attack. That simply is not what true self-defense is all about. This requires you to learn and study skills that are complex in nature. If he does this then I counter with this, or if he does that then I counter with that. Such training requires the use of complex motor skills, and in the fight or flight reality of a street attack those complex motor skills go out the window.
Our system at the SELF DEFENSE COMPANY of GREATER BOSTON is based on mastering a few instinctual techniques that all make sense and can be combined to meet just about any situation that you might find yourself in out there in the real world. These core principles are what are deemed as Gross Motor Skills as opposed to the Complex Motor Skills required in traditional martial arts, that is why when the shit hits the fan, they are easily recalled and implemented. And it is these same close-combat techniques that you will be teaching
